Congratulations to the Oregon Reflexology Network (ORN). This Oregon and SW Washington network has become the 17th state association to affiliate with RAA. Congratulations to President Marie Louise Penchoen and her steering committee. ORN registered with the state of Oregon on November 7, 2011 and now has 45 charter members.

On Monday, July 30th, the Department of Health held their first Rules
Workshop (Stakeholder meeting) in Tumwater. The meeting was led by Lisa
Hodgson, the Executive Director for the Board of Massage at the Department
of Health and Kris Waidley, the Board of Massage Program Manager. Kris

In late March a reflexology certification bill (SB 6103) was signed into law in Washington State, making it the 4th State in the union in which reflexologists are required to be certified or licensed.
In order to obtain certification as a reflexologist, applicants must complete an approved course of study and pass an examination approved by the Washington Secretary of Health. State licensed massage practitioners ...

On March 29, 2012, Governor Gregoire signed Senate Bill 6103, which amends and supplements the existing massage licensing statute by requiring the certification of reflexologists. Because massage practitioners must be licensed in Washington under existing law, and reflexology ...

The WA State Senate affirmed the changes made to 6103 in the house. The bill
has now gone to the governor to sign or veto. Should she sign the bill, WA
state will be the 4th state in the country to have licensing regulations.
After the governor’s signature, the WRA will continue to work with the
Department of Health to set regulations for reflexology in the state.
